On Saturday evening, the victim leaves a café on Hoogstraat to smoke. Outside, a quarrel arises with a man walking with a dog. This man stabs the victim. Bystanders find him seriously injured and call emergency services. The victim is resuscitated and rushed to the hospital but dies there.

The suspect, a 41-year-old man from Schiedam, is arrested shortly after.
