Today, a security risk area was in effect in various parts of the city center. This means that there was a ban on face-covering clothing and that the police were allowed to conduct preventive searches in this designated area. At the beginning of the day, this led to a handful of arrests around Central Station for, among other things, illegal possession of weapons and face-covering clothing.
During the demonstration at Museumplein, several more arrests were made for public order disturbances and setting off fireworks. After the dynamic part of this demonstration proceeded orderly, a group of demonstrators was stopped by the police on Prinsengracht. Several arrests were also made for, among other things, insult, vandalism, and public order disturbance. The rest of this group was escorted by the police to another location in the city.
