Early in the afternoon, several groups of French supporters were in the city center of Utrecht. They arrived at the Fan Meeting Point at Janskerkhof but then went into the city. Around 16:15, a fight broke out between different supporter groups at Neude. Footage shows that there were punches thrown back and forth. Objects such as terrace chairs and fireworks were also thrown. Several people were injured, one of whom was taken to the hospital. The police then intervened and used batons to restore order and separate the groups. The French supporters were escorted back to the Fan Meeting Point while waiting for the buses that would take them to Galgenwaard. Around 19:00, a group of about 80 hooligans attempted to reach Janskerkhof with sticks and weapons. The Mobile Unit was deployed, and the group was stopped near the intersection of Voorstraat/Plompetorenstraat to prevent a new confrontation. After this, calm returned to the city, and the French supporters were moved to the stadium. The police are reviewing the footage of the disturbances this afternoon to identify suspects of criminal offenses. So far, no arrests have been made.
