Arrests
On Friday, the triangle already decided to designate a security risk area in combination with preventive searches around the PSV-Napoli match. This was due to signals of possible disturbances before and during the match. Together with all partners, we want to ensure that Eindhoven is a welcoming football city for everyone, but within the applicable rules. Unfortunately, on Monday evening, large groups of Napoli supporters did not adhere to this. All Napoli supporters were arrested on Fuutlaan for violating the local ordinance regarding assembly. The arrested supporters were transported by bus to the police station on Mathildelaan. There they were interrogated overnight and released with a fine and a ban from the city center for the next 24 hours. The four PSV supporters arrested elsewhere in the city center were also released with a fine and a ban. All arrested supporters in possession of a ticket are not allowed to attend tonights match.
Today, the police are again present in downtown Eindhoven for the match between PSV and Napoli. Where necessary, we will take action against disturbances. Let’s work together to ensure that tonight’s match and everything surrounding it proceeds smoothly so that everyone can enjoy the football match.
