Five employees of the Caribbean Netherlands Judicial Institution (JICN) successfully participated in the world-famous Nijmegen Four Days March in the Netherlands from July 15 to 18, 2025. Over four days, they each walked a staggering 160 kilometers (4 times 40 kilometers). It is an impressive achievement that shows how much preparation, perseverance, and effort are required.
Zinnia Fecunda, Ellery Soliana, Juraindel Sambo, Candrick Balochie, and Roy Burleson have been intensively preparing for this challenge for months. Since the beginning of this year, they have been training regularly together and individually on Bonaire. This meant early rising, walking, and continuously working on endurance and mental strength.
On Monday, July 21, the five walkers were warmly welcomed back on Bonaire. Proud colleagues and director Peter Hengeveld were ready to personally congratulate them. There was great appreciation for their perseverance and the fact that they were the first group from JICN to take on this international challenge.
Although this is JICNs first official participation, there have been individuals on Bonaire who have been walking the four-day path for longer. An inspiring example is Nazario Alberto, who has worked for years in security at various RCN locations. He is the face of the Nijmegen Four Days March for many on the island, having successfully completed it more than fifteen times. His years of dedication and visibility make him an inspiration for many, including this new generation of walkers.
These five employees are true pioneers within JICN, as their participation lays the foundation for future teams from the Caribbean Netherlands. The goal is to inspire even more colleagues next year to take on this physical and mental challenge.
The Nijmegen Four Days March is known as the largest walking event in the world, attracting thousands of participants from different countries each year. While participation is open to everyone, completing this journey requires serious preparation, fitness, and above all, perseverance.
With this successful participation, the JICN team has shown that with the right preparation and willpower, even great challenges are within reach.
