Population of Caribbean Netherlands in 2024 Increased by Nearly 1,600

On January 1, 2025, the Caribbean Netherlands counted nearly 32,000 inhabitants. This is an increase of 1,583 (5 percent) compared to the previous year. The increase is largely due to population growth in Bonaire, primarily through migration. The number of inhabitants in Sint Eustatius and Saba also increased due to migration. This is reported by CBS based on new figures.

Population of Bonaire Increased by 1,419

Bonaire had 26,552 inhabitants on January 1, 2025, an increase of 1,419 (6 percent) compared to the previous year. This growth was mainly due to many more people moving to Bonaire than leaving (1,220) and to a limited extent due to natural growth (82, the number of births minus the number of deaths). The number of people on Bonaire born outside the Caribbean Netherlands increased by 1,345, with more people coming from European Netherlands, Colombia, Curaçao, and the Dominican Republic.

Number of Inhabitants of Sint Eustatius Increased by 66

On January 1, 2025, Sint Eustatius had 3,270 inhabitants, 66 more (2 percent) than at the beginning of 2024. The growth was mainly due to more people moving to the island than leaving. Natural growth was limited. The number of people on Sint Eustatius born outside the Caribbean Netherlands increased by 64. Especially the number of inhabitants born in Sint Maarten has grown. The number of inhabitants born in Curaçao and the United States has actually decreased.

Population of Saba Increased by 98

On January 1, 2025, Saba had 2,158 inhabitants, 98 more (5 percent) than a year earlier. Here too, more people moved in than left (108), and natural growth was limited. The number of people on Saba born outside the Caribbean Netherlands increased by 94. Particularly, the number of people born in European Netherlands, Sint Maarten, and Suriname increased. The number of people born in Curaçao decreased somewhat.
