Director-General of Public Health Marjolijn Sonnema from the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) visited Medicair last week, the provider of the air ambulance for the Caribbean Netherlands. During the visit, she received an explanation about the use of the aircraft that conducts emergency medical flights for insured individuals in the Caribbean Netherlands. She also emphasized the importance of the quality of the air ambulance, which Medicair has been intensively working on in recent months.
In April 2025, Health and Youth Caribbean Netherlands (ZJCN) signed a two-year contract with Medicair. The company is primarily responsible for the operation of the air ambulance for the Caribbean Netherlands. To ensure continuity of service, Medicair now has Colcharter available as a backup, in addition to Sarpa. Both providers can be deployed when necessary.
Medicair is also working on deploying a second aircraft. This will allow for quicker responses to multiple requests simultaneously or during maintenance of the primary aircraft.
ZJCN is closely collaborating with Fundashon Mariadal to ensure a well-organized process surrounding the air ambulance for the residents of the Caribbean Netherlands.
