Since 2011, it has been possible to take the Dutch State Examination for Secondary Education in various subjects at VMBO, HAVO, and VWO levels in Bonaire. In this context, DUO, in collaboration with OCW-CG, is organizing an information evening on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
The information evening is intended for (parents and/or guardians of) school-going youth and everyone in the region who wishes to take the state examination in Bonaire. It will explain what the state examination is and who it is intended for. The differences and similarities between the state examination and regular education will also be discussed.
Furthermore, practical information will be provided about the state examination, such as how to register, the costs, and where and when the exams take place. Practical information will also be provided on how to best prepare for the exams.
The state examination is not only intended for school-going youth; everyone can participate. You can choose a complete subject package or a number of individual subjects, which can be spread over several years. In this way, you accumulate certificates that together are worth a diploma. That diploma is the same as a regular diploma.
