Starting in September, students from the Caribbean and European parts of the Kingdom can apply for the Kingdom Scholarship. This scholarship allows for an internship or study exchange lasting from 21 days to 6 months on one of the 6 islands or in the Netherlands. The application period runs until October 14, 2025. The scheme applies to students at MBO level 3/4, HBO, and WO level who are studying full-time at a recognized program.

Unique Opportunity

The scholarship gives students the opportunity to look beyond the borders of their own (is)land, gain experience in a different context, and develop academically and personally. The first students already took advantage of the scholarship last year. The scholarship covers costs for, among other things, travel, accommodation, and living expenses. The amount of the scholarship is comparable to the Erasmus+ scholarship and is up to € 5,900 for Caribbean students. This makes it financially easier for students to gain experience across borders.

Selection by Lottery

The number of available scholarships is limited and varies by island. Selection takes place by lottery. Interested students can email for more information at koninkrijksbeurs@rijksdienstcn.com or visit the webpage: www.rijksdienstcn.com/onderwijs-cultuur-wetenschap/koninkrijksbeurs

Contribution to Study Success and Equal Opportunities

The Kingdom Scholarship is one of the measures aimed at increasing the study success and equal opportunities of Caribbean students. The scholarship offers students the chance to first get acquainted with studying or interning in another part of the Kingdom before enrolling in a full program.

Improving study success is a top priority for the education ministers of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and the Netherlands. At the request of these ministers, the program team of the Strategic Education Alliance (SEA), www.strategiceducationalliance.org has been tasked with structurally working for three years to strengthen the study success of Caribbean students.
