Prime Minister Schoof will visit Bonaire, Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Saba, and Sint Eustatius from May 9 to May 14. The introductory visit is primarily focused on the Kingdom in a changing world.
In addition to meetings with the governors, prime ministers, and members of the States of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten, as well as the commissioners and island councils of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba, the visit includes a diverse program.
The visit starts in Bonaire, where the prime minister will delve into the history and nature before having various discussions on the island. On May 10, he travels to Aruba. Here, he visits a local business and the Horacio Oduber hospital and the Correctional Institute Aruba. The prime minister departs for Curaçao on May 11, where he will receive a tour of the naval base.
The next day, he travels to Sint Maarten where he will be informed about the themes of economic development, reconstruction, and good governance. On May 13, visits to Saba and Sint Eustatius are scheduled. In Saba, the prime minister will view two major projects; the port and the development of St. Johns. A new sports hall, a technical school, and an enrichment center are being built there. In Sint Eustatius, a tour focused on Statia 2026 will follow. At the end of the day, Prime Minister Schoof will return to Sint Maarten. On May 14, among other things, a visit to the Cruise Terminal in the context of economic development, the Courthouse, and reconstruction projects that were started after the destruction caused by Hurricane Irma in 2017 are on the agenda.
