Parents and caregivers of children aged 3 to 17 with intensive care needs in the Caribbean Netherlands are eligible for a (fourth) one-time compensation of $3,982.76. Parents and caregivers who received the compensation last year and still meet the requirements for child allowance do not need to reapply. They will receive a letter about this.
The temporary regulation applies to children who require intensive guidance due to illness or condition. For example, in the areas of personal hygiene, toilet training, eating and drinking, mobility, behavior, and medical care. Parents and caregivers of children who are 3 years or older from October 1 to December 15, 2025 (up to 17 years) and are entitled to child allowance in the Caribbean Netherlands can submit an application.
The medical assessment of whether a child needs intensive care and whether parents/caregivers of a child are eligible for the compensation is conducted in Bonaire through Sentro Akseso, in Sint Eustatius through the Prevention Clinic of the GGD, and in Saba through Public Health. The care needs are considered intensive if children require intensive daily support in multiple areas or need constant supervision. Only with a positive medical assessment can the compensation of $3,982.76 be paid out by the RCN unit SZW. This is a gross amount. Parents and caregivers who received a positive recommendation in the previous application period (2024) and still meet the requirements for child allowance do not need to reapply. They will receive a letter about this in the first half of October and will receive the compensation at the end of October 2025.
