The Wilhelmina Tower in Valkenburg collapsed on the morning of March 16. The lookout tower from 1906 on Heunsberg is a national monument and a well-known attraction in South Limburg. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
The Cultural Heritage Agency (RCE) is not investigating the cause of the collapse but is looking into the extent to which the monumental values of the national monument can still be preserved.
