The Cultural Heritage Agency will be present at Dutch Design Week 2025 in the HUB Building for Tomorrow - from material to social, organized by Biobased Creations and partners from the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Biobased Creations, with support from the RCE, worked on two installations that can be seen at Building for Tomorrow, where visitors discover how heritage, sustainability, and design strengthen each other.

Sustainable Monument of the Future

The installation Sustainable Monument of the Future explores how built heritage and sustainability can go hand in hand. Sustainable Monument of the Future is designed as an interactive heritage cabinet and tells stories about traditional materials and methods, explores contemporary innovations and future-oriented solutions, and is built by heritage specialists. Thanks to pull-out drawers, tactile materials, example projects, (professional) literature, 1:1 detail builds, and an audio tour, heritage stories about the past, present, and future truly come to life.

Heritage as Blueprint

The installation Heritage as Blueprint shows examples of how heritage is used as a blueprint in todays sustainable and circular transitions: climate adaptation, healthy soils, water safety, biodiversity, and spatial quality. Heritage is a versatile legacy that increases our historical awareness and guides sustainable innovation. Heritage is a living part of our society and provides inspiration for a resilient future. How did previous generations deal with their environment, and what can we learn from that?
