What has been renewed?
In the renewed Archis, various new functionalities and possibilities have been added. Below is a brief summary of the biggest additions:

- Interface: has been adjusted to better align with how Archis is used by archaeological professionals.
- Extension Requests: it is possible to request an extension digitally for the completion of the report. An extension request must be submitted no later than two months before the deadline expires.

- Depositions: a step has been added to the process surrounding the registration of a study. In this, you provide registration and proof for the deposition of your archaeological finds.
- Data Quality: more emphasis is placed on the quality of supplied and registered archaeological data. This improves the usability and accuracy of the information.
- Relating: you can relate your notifications to other notifications within your organization or beyond.
Prepared for the Future
Arjan de Zeeuw, Director Knowledge & Advice, Cultural Heritage Agency: Archis is inextricably linked to the archaeological monument care of the Netherlands. With the renewal of Archis, the archaeological sector can register and find the data of our archaeological heritage even better. This contributes to the preservation of heritage for future generations and ensures that Archis is technically and functionally prepared for the future.

A History of Archis
Over the past eight years, a series of initiatives around Archis have been carried out, with various renewals, adjustments, and additions realized. Based on the idea ‘To know where you are going, you must know where you come from’, this history has been described and documented in RAM 291: A History of Archis.
Grete Loeb
A key figure in this story is Grete Loeb (1907-2000), who worked in the documentation department of the Cultural Heritage Agency (ROB) in Amersfoort. She is responsible for the documentation of over 7,000 find notifications, which she processed meticulously on cards and unlocked through various entrances. Curious about her story?
