From Friday, May 9 at 20:00 until Monday, May 19, 2025, at 05:00, the A12 from Veenendaal towards Utrecht, between junction Maanderbroek and junction Lunetten, will be completely closed for 9 days. This means extra travel time for everyone in the region, which can increase to more than 60 minutes.
Together We Keep the Region Accessible
Every road user who chooses a different way of traveling helps to reduce the inconvenience. Dont automatically join the traffic jam, but see what you can do. For example, work from home if possible and discuss with your employer whether meetings can take place digitally. If you have to travel, take the train or bike. If you really need to drive, travel outside peak hours and plan your route via vanAnaarBeter . Follow the official detour routes instead of your navigation system. This way, we can ensure that the region remains accessible for everyone who has no alternative and really needs to be on the road.

Major Maintenance A12
Rijkswaterstaat is replacing the outdated asphalt over a length of 30 km on the A12 between Veenendaal and Utrecht. This will largely involve applying quieter asphalt, which reduces noise for the environment. By performing maintenance now, we prevent unexpected road closures in the future, which often lead to even longer traffic jams.
In addition to replacing asphalt, we will also carry out other work during the closures, such as vegetation maintenance, replacing defective lighting, improving guardrails, and maintaining signage. By thoroughly addressing the road now, it remains safe and reliable and can last more than 10 years.
From Friday evening, August 22, 2025, at 20:00 until Monday morning, September 1, 2025, at 05:00, we will close the same section of the A12 once again. The work on this road section will then be completed. The planning for the maintenance of the A12 from Utrecht to Veenendaal is currently still being developed.
Works in Multiple Locations
We have many maintenance projects across the country. Sometimes, working in different locations at the same time is unavoidable.
In May, in addition to the A12, work will also be done on the A27 towards Utrecht from junction Everdingen to Houten , the A1 from Watergraafsmeer to junction Diemen, and the A2 from Maarssen to junction Oudenrijn in the direction of Den Bosch.
We carefully coordinate the planning to ensure that traffic continues to flow as smoothly as possible.
