Now that the repairs to the Princess Margriet Tunnel are complete, other roads in Friesland, Groningen, and Drenthe also need a facelift. Therefore, we will be working on the A31, A32, A6, A7, A28, N31, and N33 in 2025 and 2026.
In September 2025, work will begin on the A7 in Friesland. The next closure for this is from September 12, 7:00 PM to September 13, 5:00 AM for the lane from Joure towards Sneek.
Work on the other national roads in Friesland, Groningen, and Drenthe will start in the fall of 2025. The project page Major maintenance on national roads Friesland, Groningen, and Drenthe contains the most current planning of the work.
What is going to happen?
We will work on several service areas, viaducts (including replacing expansion joints), embankments, guardrails, and stormwater drains. Furthermore, we will be working on asphalt on multiple roads. For example, we will remove the current asphalt layer and apply a new layer on parts of the A7 and N31. On parts of the A6, we will apply a new top layer (renewal cream). This way, the road can last 2 to 3 years longer.
In these infographics, we show what we will do per province.
