On Thursday, December 11, 2025, Rijkswaterstaat organized a residents evening about plans for the temporary radar post, the possible location of the new radar post, and the widening of the Demkabocht in the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal. The meeting was held at the community center of Stichting Elinkwijk’s Belang.
During the evening, members of the project team were present to provide explanations and answer residents questions. Visitors could also fill in the online survey on site.
Survey Results
A total of 111 people completed the online survey about an additional function at the new radar post. Most participants live near the Demkabocht.
The results show:
- 55% want a recreational function at the new radar post.
- 36% prefer an ecological function.
- The rest have no clear preference.
What happens next?
We will take the survey results and the points raised during the residents evening into account when further developing the plans for the radar post.
We thank everyone for completing the survey and attending the residents evening. Your involvement helps us to align the plans as closely as possible with the local environment.
