The moveable section of the Papendrechtsebrug requires renewal to ensure continued safety and availability for traffic. The project employs a portfolio approach, building on previous successes such as the Haringvliet Bridge upgrade. The bridge spans the Beneden-Merwede, connecting Dordrecht with Papendrecht. The renovation includes the replacement of the bridge flap and technical systems, supported by an additional technical room and beam reinforcements. The project will commence in 2026 and last just over a year, with highway and sea traffic affected during certain periods. In partnership with contractors and stakeholders, Rijkswaterstaat strives to reduce traffic impact through innovative project management.
