Multraship, Rijkswaterstaat Rijksrederij and Coast Guard Netherlands join forces to ensure safety in the North Sea.
The Coast Guard will be reinforced in mid-2026 by the ENFORCER, a ship of the DAMEN FCS 5009 type. This ship will be deployed in the coming years to ensure the continuity of general Coast Guard tasks in the North Sea. The ENFORCER provides reinforcement until the new generation of Coast Guard vessels enters service.
Modern addition to existing fleet
The tasks of the Coast Guard have expanded in recent years. Therefore, the Rijksrederij has commissioned the rental of the ENFORCER. With this modern vessel, the Coast Guard remains well equipped to supervise, provide assistance, and contribute to safety in the North Sea.
Owned by Multraship
The ENFORCER is owned by Multraship, which is also responsible for the nautical crew and maintenance. The ship operates under the operational control of Coast Guard Netherlands.
“We are very proud that Coast Guard Netherlands and Rijkswaterstaat Rijksrederij have chosen us for this fleet expansion,” said Leendert Muller, general director of the internationally operating Zeeland family business. “It fits well with our current cooperation and we are happy to contribute to safety in the North Sea.”
Thanks in part to the axe bow developed by Damen and TU Delft, a top speed of 27 knots (about 50 km/h) can be reached. The ENFORCER is also equipped with two fast tenders for inspections and enforcement at sea. Additionally, the ship has a towing installation and a fire-fighting unit.
Strengthening a successful cooperation
Multraship already supplies three Emergency Response and Towing Vessels (ERTVs) to the Rijksrederij. These ships are used for emergency towing assistance and general Coast Guard tasks. The addition of the ENFORCER builds on this successful cooperation between government and maritime partners.
