The large machines in the Princess Margriet Tunnel have recently been removed. This means that all new anchor piles and wall anchors have been installed, completing the work on the new foundation of the tunnel. However, the project is not yet finished.

In the final phase of the restoration, the concrete floor of the Princess Margriet Tunnel will be repaired, and the final asphalt layer and road markings will be applied. Finally, the guardrails and signage will be reinstalled in their proper places.

Adjusting Traffic System

To properly carry out the work in the final phase, we will first apply asphalt in the northern tunnel tube, which is currently closed. From Friday evening, July 11, 2025, 7:00 PM to Monday morning, July 14, 5:00 AM, the entire Princess Margriet Tunnel will be closed to traffic. This is necessary to allow traffic to use the northern tunnel tube starting Monday, July 14. We will then begin work in the southern tunnel tube.

On- and Off-Ramps Closed

During the weekend closure of the A7, the following on-ramps will be closed:

  • on-ramp Woudvaart (21a)
  • on-ramp Sneek East (22b)
  • on-ramp Joure West (23b)
  • on-ramp Joure West (23d)

Additionally, the service area Bloksloot, including the TinQ gas station, will not be accessible during the weekend closure. In case of bad weather conditions, the closure may be moved to another weekend.

Detour Routes for Princess Margriet Tunnel

During the weekend closure of the Princess Margriet Tunnel, various detour routes will be available, including those via the A31 and A32. All these routes will be indicated with yellow signs.
