Rijkswaterstaat is organizing a second open evening on Monday, June 30, 2025, in Harderwijk to inform residents and interested parties about the plans and design for restoring and creating natural banks between Harderwijk and Bad Hoophuizen in Hulshorst.
Improving Banks
On the south side of the Veluwemeer, a belt of reeds is already growing. These reeds play an important role. They help maintain water quality, provide shelter and spawning grounds for fish, and nesting sites for birds. Rijkswaterstaat will improve these banks. With additional land-water transitions, we will create more shelter and shallower water, thus enhancing the variety of aquatic nature.
At this second open evening, Rijkswaterstaat will present the sketches of the final design for the nature-friendly banks. Final feedback on the design can still be incorporated into the design report. This autumn, we will apply for a permit for the implementation. Stakeholders can view the design and the accompanying report during the permit application and respond to the permit. After completing the permit application, work can begin on the implementation. It is expected that these nature-friendly banks can be constructed in 2027.
Open Evening Harderwijk
Rijkswaterstaat invites interested parties to come and take a look at the design. During the open evening, experts will be present to answer questions and explain the design sketches.
