Rijkswaterstaat is organizing two open evenings on Monday, November 3 in Born and Thursday, November 6, 2025 in Dieteren about the first major weekend closure of the A2 between Het Vonderen and Kerensheide, the first #A2 WeekendBreak.
During this so-called A2 WeekendBreak, the A2 will be fully closed from Friday, November 14 at 9:00 PM to Monday, November 17 at 5:00 AM between the junction Het Vonderen and exit Urmond. This will cause significant traffic disruption and extra congestion on regional and local roads in Midden Limburg.
During the open evenings, residents and road users will receive information about what exactly will be closed, what traffic measures will be taken, and about the work that will be carried out that weekend. There will also be an opportunity to ask personal questions about the consequences of the closure and the expected disruption in the area. Employees of Rijkswaterstaat and contractor Boskalis will be present to provide explanations, supported by videos and animations about the project.

#A2 WeekendBreak
The A2 WeekendBreak is the campaign name for a series of seven weekend closures between 2025 and 2029 of the A2 between Het Vonderen and Kerensheide. These closures are necessary for the widening of the highway. The first weekend closure is scheduled between November 14 and 17, 2025. In case of bad weather, the work will be postponed to the reserve weekend in week 47. We urge road users to adjust their travel behavior and, where possible, leave the car at home for a weekend. With an autobreak during weekendbreak, we keep Midden-Limburg moving together.
