On Friday, November 14, 2025, Rijkswaterstaat will conduct an inspection of the City Bridge in Weert. Since the collision of an inland vessel on Wednesday, November 5, the bridge has been blocked for all shipping traffic. The inspection will determine the exact damage and how long the closure will last.

The collision has blocked the City Bridge for shipping traffic due to damage to cables and pulleys. As a result, the bridge can no longer be operated. Since the main supporting structure is intact, motorized traffic, cyclists, and pedestrians can still use the bridge. During the inspection, the bridge will be partially accessible to cyclists and pedestrians.

Changed traffic situation during inspection

The inspection on Friday, November 14 is expected to last from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and will be carried out using a cherry picker. This will alternately occupy the bike and pedestrian path on one side of the bridge. As a result, cyclists and pedestrians can cross the bridge on foot, always on one side. They will be guided on site.

Motorized traffic can continue to drive through.

Investigation results

After the inspection, we expect to have insight into the exact damage and the further duration of the closure. Shipping traffic will be informed as soon as possible.
