The crown path on the dike of Marken is partially available again for walkers from July 30, 2025. In August, the North Bank will still be closed between Minnebuurt and the lighthouse, and the South Bank between Rozewerf and the lighthouse.
South Bank and West Bank Marken
In recent months, the contractor has completed 2 test sections on the South Bank and West Bank into full-fledged reinforced dike sections, including fill stone, set stone, and new paving. Now that these 2 sections of dike reinforcement are ready, walkers can use the path again.
On the South Bank, work will continue during the holiday period between Rozewerf and the lighthouse, including the application of sand and vertical drainage. As a result, the section between Rozewerf and the lighthouse will remain closed for the time being.
North Bank Marken
The North Bank of Marken will not be reinforced, but will receive the same new brick paving as the rest of the dike. The walking path has been closed for the past few months. Between Bukdijk and Minnebuurt, the North Bank is now available again for walkers. Between Minnebuurt and the lighthouse, the North Bank will remain closed until the end of August.
Temporary Closures Crown Path Marken
For all parts of the dike, the contractor will place temporary closures in the coming years when heavy equipment is used. Always follow the instructions on the signs and from the staff. This way you will not endanger yourself or the staff, and we will not have to interrupt the work.
