The Mogezompse Bridge in the rural area of Lochem is immediately closed to all motorized vehicles with more than 2 wheels.
During a regular inspection, Rijkswaterstaat, the owner of the bridge and responsible for its maintenance and management, identified damage. The extent of the damage is serious. Therefore, the municipality of Lochem, the road manager of the bridge, has been asked to close the bridge immediately as a precaution.
Since 2013, there has already been a restriction for traffic over 20 tons on the Mogezompse Bridge. The reason for this restriction was a recalculation of the bridges strength at that time. To determine the exact nature of the damage to the bridge now, we will conduct further investigations. Depending on the outcomes of the investigation, further steps will be taken.
