So far, the completely or partially closed (motorways) in the Randstad due to the NATO summit on Monday morning, June 23, are not causing additional delays. It seems that many road users have heeded the call to work from home as much as possible. The rush hour has been quieter than usual.
Additional Closures A4
Starting Monday afternoon, June 23, at 12:00 PM, all overpasses and at-grade intersections with the corridor will be closed to traffic. As a result, various on- and off-ramps on the A4 will also be closed. These closures not only cause extra travel time on the motorways but also on municipal and provincial roads.
Temporary Traffic Slowdown
Starting Monday afternoon, during the transport of delegations from Schiphol to The Hague, traffic on the A4 will be temporarily slowed down by the police. This is to prevent traffic from being able to drive directly alongside the convoy. The slowdown may cause additional delays. Especially the Tuesday morning rush hour of June 24, which is usually already very busy, will feel the impact.
The call remains:
- If you do not need to be in the Randstad, avoid it.
- Use public transport and bicycles as much as possible.
- Work from home if possible.
If you must travel in the Randstad, prepare your journey well. Check the page of the NATO Summit for more information or visit your municipality or provinces website.
Only if everyone who can adjusts their travel behavior can we prevent the Randstad from completely gridlocking.
