Contractor de Jong Zuurmond has replaced the piles of the maintenance quay at the Texel ferry port on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat. The iron piles ensure that the TESO ferry can safely berth alongside the quay, for example during maintenance or quiet periods.

The six new iron piles are not anchored to the quay but placed deep in the ground. This allows them to move slightly with the forces of the ferry and last longer than the old piles. Due to weather conditions in early January 2026, the work started later than planned. This caused no delay.
