In 1945, the occupier capitulated and peace was signed. But the consequences of this war are still faced by Rijkswaterstaat. During the war, our country was bombed. Bridges and important (rail)roads were also regularly targeted. And those bombs are still being found 80 years later during roadworks around the highway!
Botte Jellema went with Jurian Faber, advisor on explosive war remnants at Rijkswaterstaat, to the A20 near Moordrecht. There, a road widening is being prepared. And during those preparations, it turned out that 2 unexploded aircraft bombs from the Second World War were lying there. Those bombs were cleared in November 2024. Jurian explains in the podcast how we find out that bombs are located somewhere. And what Rijkswaterstaat then does.
