The work on the lock gates of the large Sea Lock in Farmsum is proceeding according to plan.
Currently, the contractor is busy conserving (i.e., protecting against rust and wear) the 1st set of flood gates. These are being completely blasted, repaired where necessary, and provided with a new protective coating. The ebb gates have now been fully conserved and returned to their original place.
Planning and Follow-up Renovation of Sea Lock Farmsum
In June, the 1st flood gates will be reinstalled. Immediately after, the 2nd set of flood gates will be removed to undergo the same conservation process. According to the schedule, these gates will return to the lock at the end of August. Subsequently, the gates of the small Sea Lock will also be addressed. This will complete the renovation of all gates of the Sea Lock. They can then be used for approximately 20 years until the next maintenance round.
