We are renewing the so-called Demkabocht in the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal to improve shipping safety. A new radar station will also be placed in this area.

Residents in the area can contribute ideas via a short online survey .

New radar station in green park zone

The radar station will be located in the Demkapunt, the triangle between Amsterdamsestraatweg, the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal, and Demkaweg. The municipality of Utrecht is developing a new cycling and walking route with a green park zone along the canal here.

We want the radar station to fit well in this new environment and therefore ask residents for their opinion. Due to the bend widening, the previously considered location is no longer suitable. The new preferred location is about 80 meters north, near the canal. From this spot, ships can be safely guided.

Participate via the online survey

We are investigating whether the radar station can have an additional function there. In this short questionnaire, you can share your thoughts and tell us what you find important. This way, we can include your opinion in the study. Filling it out takes about 2 minutes and offers space to elaborate on suggestions.

At the bottom, you can indicate whether you want to stay informed about the project and whether you want to contribute to the design. It is possible to give your opinion via a short online survey until Sunday, 14 December 2025. The results will be included in the design of the radar station.

You can access the survey via our participation website .
