The Schijndel lock is blocked due to a previous collision with an inland vessel. Rijkswaterstaat is currently inspecting the damage and will continue to do so in the coming days.

Allowing Waiting Ships to Pass

We have cautiously been able to move the lock doors again. The gear drive of the movement mechanism appears to be working. In the coming hours, it will be assessed whether we can let the ships that are stuck and waiting for a lock passage go through the lock.

Five to six ships are waiting due to the blockage. It is our priority to get them back on their way as soon as possible. Further investigation in the coming days will determine the extent of the damage and what repair measures are needed.

Detour Route

Due to the collision, the Zuid-Willemsvaart near Schijndel is blocked. An alternative route is available via Panheel. Not all ships can use this route because there are restrictions on draft and width. More information about the navigation route is available on the Vaarweginformatie website.
