Rijkswaterstaat will permanently close the Oudbroeken service area on the A12 between Duiven and Zevenaar for road users on January 5, 2026. In the future, the De Liemers interchange will be built on the site, connecting the new extended A15 with the widened A12.
Before that happens, construction consortium GelreGroen will start building a construction road from this location in January.
Alternative
Road users who want to rest can continue to the Bergh-Zuid service area on the A12 near the German border or to the Stille Wald service area on the A18 near Wehl. Here it is possible to park for free and there are facilities for road users.
In addition, truck drivers can use the Truckparking Duiven on the A12 at exit 28 (Duiven); a service area with paid parking options and various facilities.
Construction Road
A construction road is a temporary road accessible only to construction traffic for the construction of the new A15, the lowered section near Helhoek and Groessen, and the bridge over the Pannerdensch Canal. The construction road prevents construction traffic from using local roads. Local traffic is thus not inconvenienced and can continue smoothly.
Residents in the area also experience less nuisance and increased safety. To build this construction road, the existing service area must be cleared. Trees were cut down on this site in November, and the former gas station will soon be demolished. For more workspace and the safety of employees and road users, the service area is now permanently closed.
Project ViA15
There are daily traffic jams on the A12, A50, the A325, and the Pleijroute (N325). In the ViA15 project, the province of Gelderland and Rijkswaterstaat collaborate to improve traffic flow in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region.
The A15 will be extended from the Ressen interchange to the A12 between Duiven and Zevenaar, and additional lanes will be added on the A12 between Westervoort and the Oud-Dijk interchange and on the A15 between the Valburg and Ressen interchanges.
The extension of the A15 creates a direct connection between the Port of Rotterdam and Germany. ViA15 enables road users to travel faster between Nijmegen, Arnhem, De Liemers, and the Achterhoek, benefiting the regional economy.
Construction consortium GelreGroen is executing the project on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat with care for people and nature. The ViA15 project is expected to open to traffic by the end of 2031.
