Rijkswaterstaat has awarded the basic maintenance contract (BOC) for the Maas in South Netherlands to Van Oord. The contract applies to the entire Dutch part of the Maas and Maas canals, from Eijsden to the Biesbosch, and includes both regular maintenance and emergency response.

The execution officially starts on January 1, 2026, preceded by a transition period starting September 1, 2025.

With this award, we aim for continuity, craftsmanship, and reliability in the management of the national waters in South Netherlands. The contract duration is six years, with an option to extend it by two years.

Why Van Oord?

Van Oord is no stranger and emerged as the best from the tender. The company previously carried out similar work on the northern part of the Maas and has extensive experience in our water system management. Under the BOC Maas South Netherlands, Van Oord will maintain water (such as floating debris), banks, and various civil components such as wear layers, railings, and concrete pavements.

The green maintenance along the banks of the Maas, which is managed by Rijkswaterstaat, is also included in this contract. In addition to regular maintenance, Van Oord is also the first party to be called in emergencies. We look forward to this fixed maintenance in the coming years with confidence.
