On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the iconic Krúsrak bridge in Sneek was successfully relocated to the temporary work area. At the same time, the temporary steel bridge was placed. This followed thorough preparations, and during the weekend of the bridge exchange, the N7 was closed. Over 350 interested spectators watched how the enormous operation was carried out flawlessly.
The weekend went smoothly and according to plan. Calmly and methodically, the Krúsrak was first lifted a bit with jacks. Then the bridge could be driven from its place and brought to its temporary location with an SPMT (Self-propelled modular transporter). By the end of the afternoon, the temporary steel bridge was heading towards Akkerwinde.
On Sunday, May 11, the temporary bridge was connected. These works were completed faster than expected. The road could be reopened on Sunday at 5:00 PM. For the transport, contractor CT deBoer worked with Wagenborg Nedlift, which also placed the original bridge in 2008.
Renovation of Krúsrak and Reinstallation
In the coming months, Krúsrak will be renovated. The bridge shows damage to the wood, among other things due to moisture. If everything goes according to plan, Krúsrak will be reinstalled at the end of this year, ready for a new phase of life.
