On September 15, 2025, a new vaccination round against corona will start. The corona shot is intended to better protect people at increased risk from hospitalization or death due to corona. Corona is still present and can resurge. The corona shot can be obtained until December 5, 2025.
Who is the shot intended for?
The corona shot will be available this autumn for the following risk groups:
- everyone aged 60 and older;
- people aged 50 to 59 who receive an annual invitation for the flu shot;
- adults and children from medically high-risk groups (for example, people with a severe immune deficiency);
- healthcare workers who have direct contact with vulnerable patients.
For some people who do not fall into the target group, the corona shot is also available. For example, for people who have a vulnerable family member. Or people who want to get a corona shot on the advice of a treating physician.
Invitations and appointments
Between August 26 and mid-October 2025, everyone aged 60 and older will receive an invitation letter from the RIVM. Persons younger than 60 who belong to one of the above-mentioned risk groups will not receive a letter but can make an appointment starting August 26 with the GGD Municipal Health Service (Municipal Health Service) via planjeprik.nl or by calling 0800-7070.
Where can you get the shot?
The vaccination will be administered by the regional GGD’s throughout the country. Residents of care institutions will receive the shot in their care institution.
People who, due to a serious illness, condition, or disability cannot go to a GGD vaccination location themselves or with the help of others, can in special cases receive the corona shot at home. People who qualify for this can start calling the GGD at 0800-7070 from August 26.
The vaccination will be done with the mRNA vaccine from BioNTech/Pfizer that is tailored to the currently most common coronavirus variant.
