Young Adults Speak Out About Their Mental Health, Stress, and Substance Use

For young adults, school or study is the biggest source of stress. Additionally, many young adults are concerned about money and societal developments. They also believe that substance use has become completely normalized in society. However, young adults know well what kind of help they need. This is evident from the qualitative research conducted by the research, advisory, and participation agency EMMA, commissioned by GGD GHOR Nederland Municipal / Regional Health Service – Medical Assistance Organization in the Region (Municipal / Regional Health Service – Medical Assistance Organization in the Region) on behalf of the GGD Municipal Health Service (Municipal Health Service) and the RIVM.

The results and recommendations are described in a factsheet(PDF) (external link) and report(PDF) (external link). Purpose of the Research

The purpose of this research was to provide depth and context to the results of the Health Monitor Young Adults 2024. A total of 58 young adults participated in this qualitative research, consisting of 5 group discussions and 14 one-on-one interviews. An advisory group of young adults provided input on the methodology and reflected on the outcomes at various points during the research.
