At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of contacts with general practitioners dropped sharply for almost all health issues studied. For most problems, there were no lasting effects, and the number of GP contacts largely returned to pre-pandemic levels. Only for a few health problems and some vulnerable groups are long-term changes visible. This is evident from research by Nivel, which compared trends in the use of general practitioner care during the COVID-19 pandemic with trends before and after the pandemic.
