In the autumn of 2025, there will be another vaccination campaign against corona. This was announced by the Secretary of State for Youth, Prevention, and Sports from the Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport (VWS Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport (Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport)) in a letter to the House of Representatives. He is following the advice given by the Health Council (external link) regarding the COVID-19 vaccination for 2025.
The corona shot is advised in 2025 for the following groups:
- people aged 60 and older;
- people aged 50 to 59 who are offered the flu shot annually;
- children and adults from medically high-risk groups;
- healthcare workers who have direct contact with vulnerable patients.
In some cases, the corona shot may also be offered to others, for example, if there is a vulnerable family member.
In consultation with the treating physician, the shot can also be given at another time, outside the autumn round, if deemed necessary by the physician.
An important change compared to 2024 is that people aged 18 to 49 who are offered the flu shot annually will not be offered the corona shot in 2025. People aged 50 and older who receive an invitation for the flu shot will still be eligible for a corona shot.
The new corona vaccination round will run from September 15 to December 5, 2025.
