The Prevention Programs and Scaling Up for Public Health (PPG) domain is a new RIVM domain from November 1, consisting of four new centers. Daniëlle Schiet has been director since late October and is a member of the RIVM Executive Board.

After the coronavirus crisis, the RIVM aimed to group the management and coordination of its operational tasks into a new domain that also includes scaling up and central control of medical operational processes during major infectious disease outbreaks.

Merging Existing Tasks into a New Domain

As a new domain, PPG brings together important RIVM tasks previously housed at the Population Screening Center (CvB Centrum voor Bevolkingsonderzoek (Population Screening Center)) and the Vaccination Supply and Prevention Programs Service (DVP Dienst Vaccinvoorziening en Preventieprogrammas (Vaccination Supply and Prevention Programs Service)) of the RIVM. The National Infectious Disease Control Scaling Function (LFI) is also part of this new RIVM domain. The domain naturally works closely with chain partners with the needs of citizens at the center. To protect public health, both preventively and in times of crisis.

Population Screenings, Vaccination Programs, Screenings, and Scaling Up

The PPG domain organizes nationwide government-offered prevention programs, such as screenings for cervical cancer, breast cancer, and colon cancer. Also the National Immunization Program (RVP) and vaccination of adults against flu, pneumococci, and Covid-19. And screenings during pregnancy and after birth. The domain also ensures that the Netherlands can quickly scale up during major infectious disease outbreaks.
All communication materials will be adjusted accordingly in the coming months.
