On behalf of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, RIVM has developed a digital tool that can be used to check whether a substance meets the OECD Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) definition of PFAS Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances).
This tool (external link) is a tool for governments and companies in implementing the ZZS Substances of Very High Concern (Substances of Very High Concern) emission policy and PFAS Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances).
In 2024, PFAS as a whole group were added to the priority action list of the OSPAR Convention (Oslo-Paris Convention). Within the OSPAR Convention, it has been established that PFAS must meet the OECD definition (external link), where the chemical structure of this group is defined. The OSPAR list is one of the legal sources for the identification of ZZS (Substances of Very High Concern). This means that the entire PFAS group is now classified as ZZS and has been placed on the ZZS list (external link).
