4 Dutch start-ups have raised a total of € 35.5 million in funding in the first round of 2025 of the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator program. The projects include improvements in quantum computers, development of a drug for thrombosis, and 3D printing of microstructures.
The winning start-ups
The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) congratulates the 4 winning Dutch innovative start-ups. Together, they receive € 10 million in subsidies from the EIC Accelerator program, and an additional € 25.5 million in investments from the EIC Fund has been pledged. The program is part of Horizon Europe, the overarching program of the European Commission (EC) aimed at enhancing Europes competitiveness by promoting science and innovation.
Groove Quantum
Enables the expansion of quantum computers by using qubits made from a special material: germanium. These qubits are fast and energy-efficient. They can also be produced using standard semiconductor industry techniques.
Photosynthetic
This company offers groundbreaking micro-3D printing technology capable of creating structures smaller than a micrometer at very high speeds. This opens up new possibilities for applications in the health sector and industrial production.
TargED Biopharmaceuticals
Develops a targeted drug that dissolves blood clots with antibodies that bring an enzyme to the clot site. This aims to help patients with severe thrombosis - such as strokes - more quickly and effectively.
Q-Bird
Develops hardware and software for scalable and ultra-secure quantum communication technology. With this hardware and software, organizations can securely transmit and protect sensitive data, for example against cyberattacks.
RVO supports and advises on applications
RVO is the national contact point for Horizon Europe. The Accelerator team at RVO advised and supported the winning companies in their applications. The advisors collaborated on the approach of the project applications and practiced the interview that the EIC jury conducts with the companies.
EIC Accelerator program
The European Innovation Council (EIC) supports innovative companies: from fundamental research to start-ups and scale-ups. The EIC focuses on deep-tech innovations. The EIC Accelerator program is part of this. This program aims to help individual companies develop, scale, and bring to market groundbreaking innovations with high risk and significant impact.
