Are you an EU company investing in sustainable and impactful projects outside the European Union (EU)? Starting February 2, 2026, the Global Gateway Investment Hub assists EU companies in finding EU support. The EU aims to contribute worldwide to, for example, new jobs and better trade. You can submit your project via the specially established Dutch Team National.
Business as a pillar in the EUs integrated foreign policy: Global Gateway
The world is changing rapidly. The EUs Global Gateway strategy connects diplomacy, trade, and international cooperation. The goal is to establish partnerships where the interests of EU member states and countries outside the EU come together. This strengthens the EUs position worldwide.
The business sector plays an important role in this strategy. Dutch companies often have good ideas and want to invest in countries outside Europe. The EU wants to support these ideas with the Global Gateway Investment Hub. This European portal refers EU companies to appropriate EU support, such as loans, insurance, guarantees, or technical assistance.
The Global Gateway Investment Hub is the portal for submitting private or public-private projects from EU companies or a consortium of EU companies. Member states make an initial selection of proposals. In the Netherlands, this is done by Team National.
The EU must invest more worldwide. We need to make more impact. The business sector can do this. Dutch companies take a leading role.
Dutch Team National for the Global Gateway Investment Hub launched
On February 2, 2026, Team National was launched in the presence of EU Director General International Partnerships (INTPA) Koen Doens. Team National is a collaboration between:
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Invest International
- FMO
- Atradius Dutch State Business
- VNO-NCW
- Netherlands Enterprise Agency
How does it work for Dutch companies?
The Dutch Team National can support you in developing proposals. The team also submits selected proposals to the Global Gateway Investment Hub. This European portal can then assist you in finding EU support, such as finding European partners, political support, or technical assistance.

Dutch companies are already working on Global Gateway projects. In Angola, for example, they help develop a trade corridor. This strategic transport route provides:
- new markets;
- more supply security for the EU;
- local employment in African countries.
In November 2025, Angola sent the first refrigerated containers with avocados to the EU. Part of the shipment was delivered during the launch of Team National.
