In early September, entrepreneurs can register as chain directors via TenderNed. This is for a project that builds supply and demand for circular plastic. This chain director supports 10 companies that together develop a marketplace for high-quality circular plastics. Among these 10 companies are Coca Cola, Albert Heijn, Unilever, and FrieslandCampina.

Encouraging Circular Plastics

The goal of the project is to develop a way of working for entrepreneurs in circular plastics. This helps entrepreneurs, for example, as they prepare for the European Packaging Regulation (PPWR) and other product regulations. The Digital Product Passport (DPP) and the expansion of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) are examples of product regulations. A group of brand owners and retailers is investigating together how more entrepreneurs can become active in circular plastic. This should encourage investments in recycling, sorting, and circular production in the Netherlands. It also ensures that companies invest confidently in this type of plastics. Furthermore, it reduces dependence on fossil resources.

Ensuring Easy Collaboration

The chain director facilitates smooth collaboration between companies. For example, regarding these points:

  • building mutual trust
  • weighing interests
  • establishing joint agreements and ensuring all parties comply

RVO is the client for this tender and supports the project together with the Versnellingshuis Nederland Circulair.
