Are you active in waste management and circular economy? Do you want to position yourself with other companies in this rapidly growing market in Canada? Join the PIB program Waste and Circular Economy Netherlands-Canada!
What does the PIB program entail?
In a PIB program, a group (cluster) of Dutch companies enters into an agreement with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the embassy network. For 3 years, this group of companies positions itself in the Canadian market with, among other things:
- trade missions to Canada, including matchmaking
- visits to the Netherlands by key figures from the Canadian waste and circular economy sector
- a representative on site
- support from the Dutch embassy in Ottawa and the consulates in Toronto and Vancouver
The companies MetaSus and The Waste Not Spot take the initiative for this PIB program. The collaboration is a continuation of 2 missions to Canada in 2024 and 2025, and a visit to the Netherlands by a Canadian delegation in November 2025.
Great ambitions and investments in Canada
Canada has great ambitions in the field of waste and circular economy. The country aims to have no plastic waste by 2030. In the coming years, Canada is investing a lot of money in this sector. Due to unrest at the southern border, Canada is now looking more towards Europe for cooperation.
Canada provides funds for circular plastics, prevention of food waste, and reduction of methane emissions from landfills. Provinces and large cities also have their own schemes. The country encourages collaborative projects with foreign parties.
For whom?
The PIB program Waste and Circular Economy Netherlands-Canada is open to Dutch suppliers of products and services in the field of:
- waste, such as organic waste, plastic waste, e-waste, producer responsibility systems
- circular economy: circular construction and demolition, sustainable procurement, circular business models and waste management
Costs and investment
Participation in this PIB costs €3,000 excluding VAT per company per year.
RVO invests approximately €350,000 in the program during its term.
