Are you active in sustainable energy? Do you want to contribute to the reconstruction in Ukraine? Join the PIB program Sustainable Energy for Ukraine!
On December 5, the Partners for International Business (PIB) program Renewable Energy for Ukraine was signed. The program is a collaboration between industry association NedZero, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and the Dutch embassy in Kyiv. They receive support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The program aims to position the Dutch energy sector in the Ukrainian market and assist the Ukrainian sector with its vulnerable energy infrastructure. The program seeks to secure energy supply certainty for Ukraine in the near future.
Wind turbines get a second life in Ukraine
This PIB program focuses on decentralized energy generation. This means that energy is generated less in one place and closer to the consumer. This has the advantage of less transport loss and makes energy supply less dependent on vulnerable power plants.
An important part of the program is the reuse of Dutch wind turbines. These become available when existing wind farms in the Netherlands are renewed and get a second life in Ukraine thanks to PIB.
By distributing the turbines across Ukraine, the country becomes less vulnerable to attacks. The production and assembly of parts will take place as much as possible in Ukraine. This helps local employment, knowledge development, and economic growth. In addition to wind energy, the PIB program also focuses on solar energy and battery storage.
Benefits for Dutch entrepreneurs
Within this PIB program, Dutch companies and organizations from the renewable energy sector collaborate in a public-private cluster.
Currently participating: Ecoways, EWT, Business in Wind, IX Renewables, We4Ce, VDL Group, United Batteries, SM Investments, Green Cat Renewables Europe, Hapam, Solarge, Folded Solar. The companies work closely with partners such as OostNL, VNG International, VEI Dutch Water Operators, and the Netherlands Water Partnership.
Private cluster coordinator Bert van der Lingen: This concrete help comes not a day too soon. We look forward to working with our Ukrainian partners, RVO, the Dutch embassy in Kyiv, and other partners to build a solid, renewable energy system for Ukraine.
