When an entrepreneur passes away, survivors often face a lot of administrative work related to the business. From January 13, 2026, a new regulation assistance tool is available to help them. This online resource provides advice on what survivors should arrange first and where they can ask their questions.
The regulation assistance for survivors of entrepreneurs not only provides an overview of the most important matters but also indicates the order in which you should handle them: what needs immediate attention and what can wait? The tool offers practical tips and refers survivors if necessary.
Overwhelming amount of administrative work
Klaas Damstra, coordinator of the regulation assistance on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce (KvK): When an entrepreneur dies, survivors often face an overwhelming amount of administrative work besides their grief. With the regulation assistance, we want to offer some peace and clarity during this difficult period. Not everything needs to be done at once. We hope survivors feel supported and know they are not alone, especially in the first months after the death.
Collaboration and support
The regulation assistance can be found on the Ondernemersplein, the central government platform for entrepreneurs in the Netherlands. Organizations such as the Tax Authorities, KvK, and RVO collaborate here to inform and advise entrepreneurs about laws and regulations, permits, tax matters, subsidies, and more. Besides this regulation assistance, survivors can get support via, for example, the Tax Phone for survivors and the KvK Survivors Desk.
Go to the regulation assistance
The regulation assistance for survivors of entrepreneurs was created in close collaboration between Ondernemersplein, the Tax Authorities, the Chamber of Commerce (KvK), and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) commissioned its development.
