The Circular Construction Sector Guide highlights our Dutch innovative circular construction ecosystem to (inter)national partners. The economic mission in September to Japan, with themes including hydrogen and circular construction, was an excellent opportunity for the presentation of the guide. Afke van Rijn, Director-General of Environment & International at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, presented the sector guide to both public and private Japanese stakeholders in the construction sector.

High Ambition: Fully Circular Construction Sector by 2050

Architecture & construction is one of the sectors with the highest material footprint. Japan and the Netherlands share the ambition to be fully circular by 2050. To achieve this goal, circular innovations and international cooperation are essential.

During the economic mission to Japan, which took place from September 21 to 25, 2025, knowledge was exchanged and new collaborations were facilitated. At the Expo 2025 Osaka, participants visited various circular country pavilions.

Insight into the Dutch Circular Construction Economy

The sector guide includes 157 Dutch organizations that play a role in the circular construction economy. In addition to these showcases, the sector guide provides insight into Dutch expertise, innovation, technology, and commitment to a circular and sustainable built environment. It brings together inspiring examples, pioneering organizations, large companies, and scalable solutions.
