Thanks to the subsidy, 54 new charging plazas for electric trucks will be created. The government allocated funds for this in 2024 through the SPULA (Subsidy Scheme for Public Charging Infrastructure Heavy Transport). The RVO implements this scheme. A total of 271 charging stations will be installed at the 54 new charging plazas. Every entrepreneur with an electric truck is allowed to use them.
Fast Charging Stations for Large Vehicles
All 271 charging stations are powerful DC fast chargers. A DC fast charger is a charging station that charges an electric vehicle extra quickly with power directly from the electricity grid. Of the planned charging stations, 251 fall into the heavy power group. These can charge with 350 kilowatts or more. This is important because trucks need to charge quickly. The other 20 charging stations charge with 200 to 350 kilowatts. These are also DC fast chargers.
Battery for Energy Storage
At 33 locations, a stationary battery will also be installed at the charging stations. This is also made possible by the SPULA. These batteries store electricity for use at the charging stations. They also help to reduce the load on the power grid. This allows trucks to charge faster.
Transition to Electric
These charging plazas help transport companies transition to electric trucks. This makes heavy transport cleaner for the environment. This transition is necessary to meet the climate goals that have been set.
More Funds Available for 2025
For 2025, SPULA subsidies are again available. Entrepreneurs have been able to apply for this since May 13, 2025. So far, 9 companies have applied for subsidies. They are requesting a total of € 2.3 million. A total of € 15 million is available. This means that entrepreneurs can still apply with confidence.
Companies that want to build public charging plazas can apply until December 19, 2025, at 12:00 PM.
