The subsidy Accelerated Climate Investments in Industry (VEKI) has a significant impact. Without this subsidy, the annual CO₂ emissions in the industry would be at least 500 kilotons higher starting from 2027. Thus, the subsidy is effective for both companies and the climate. This is evident from the policy evaluation by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) regarding the subsidy for the period 2019-2023.

Quick and Accessible Sustainability

With the VEKI subsidy, companies in the industry can make sustainable investments in an accessible way. For example, investments that lead to lower CO₂ emissions or reduced energy consumption.

Maarten de Wit, VEKI coordinator at the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO): “A CO₂ reduction of 500 kilotons in such a short time is an impressive result. We can demonstrate that companies can recoup their sustainability investments faster through the VEKI. Who wouldnt want that? Invest and see results in a relatively short time.”

The VEKI directly contributes to achieving national climate goals.

With our new galvanizing line, we expect to save 20,000 tons of CO2, says Juliëtte Heldens from project Thielco.

Efficient Implementation

The policy evaluation also shows that RVO efficiently implements the subsidy and that the administrative burdens for entrepreneurs are low. Juliëtte Heldens from project Thielco also experiences this: We look back on a successful collaboration with RVO as an expert and professional partner.

The demand for this subsidy is high among industrial companies. In 2024, they requested more subsidy than was available. Therefore, a new application round will follow in September 2025. Entrepreneurs can submit an application starting Tuesday, September 16 at 09:00 AM. RVO processes the applications in the order of receipt until the subsidy fund is exhausted. A total of €148 million in subsidy is available.

Do You Also Want to Become Sustainable?

Are you an entrepreneur in the industry? And do you want to invest in measures that reduce CO₂ emissions in the Netherlands? Check if your project meets the VEKI requirements and apply for the subsidy starting Tuesday, September 16 at 09:00 AM.

About the VEKI Subsidy

The VEKI subsidy is intended for entrepreneurs in the industry who invest in measures that lead to reduced CO₂ emissions in the Netherlands. They make this investment in their own operations. Without the subsidy, the payback period would be more than 5 years. This subsidy is one of the programs that RVO offers and contributes to achieving the CO₂ targets from the Climate Agreement.
