Due to the good spring weather, a lot of manure has already been spread on the land this year, more than in previous years. As a farmer, it is important to consider the placement space on the farm and to stay within the usage standards. Therefore, the NVWA will conduct extra inspections on the placement space of animal manure at arable farms in the coming period.
The placement space for nitrogen from animal manure shows how much nitrogen from animal manure may be used per hectare and per year on agricultural land. See also: Usage standards and usage space for manure (RVO).
The focus of the inspections will be on companies that, based on analysis, may already show an exceedance of the placement space for animal manure. The NVWA has conducted this analysis based on the available data that the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) receives from the companies. This has used the data of manure that was transported in 2025, registered in the real-time Transport Document for Animal Manure (rVDM), and the available information about the parcels.
Results
The NVWA records the results of the usage standards inspections carried out at a company in a report. If it appears that a company does not comply with the usage standards for 2025, this may lead to sanctions.
Check your data
Ensure that you do not bring in too much animal manure and keep in mind that sampled manure sometimes contains more phosphate and nitrogen than you expect. You can see on mijn.rvo.nl how much manure you have brought in and how much phosphate and nitrogen is in a load as soon as the analysis results are known.
